City to consider $2.5 million irrigation improvement at Coral Oaks Golf Course

By MEGHAN BRADBURY - | Jan 3, 2025

Improvements at the Coral Oaks Golf Course will be among Cape Coral City Council’s first order of business in the new year.

An amendment with Indigo Sports concerning the city-owned course’s irrigation replacement system is on the agenda for Council’s first meeting of 2025.

The replacement system includes the pump, pump house, irrigation system, and all irrigation heads. The resolution is to allow Indigo Sports, a wholly owned subsidiary of Troon Golf, LLC, “to use their centralized purchase program to design and replace the irrigation system” in the amount of $2,477,813.

The council awarded a professional services contract with Indigo Sports, LLC on Dec. 13, 2023. On Feb. 1, 2024, the city then entered into a five-year management agreement for the course.

According to agenda documents, during the first six months of the agreement, the golf course experienced line breaks, blow-outs, irrigation head damage and downtime with the irrigation pump, which were all originals to the course that was built in 1988. The system continues to be repaired.

The meeting will be held at the new Council-approved time of 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, in City Council Chambers, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd.

The meeting is open to the public.
