This morning, Dec. 17, at approximately 5:45, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a report of an unresponsive male at the rest area off I-75 on Daniels Parkway and Goldenwood Drive, Lee County.

Accoring to the FHP, the male, age 40, of Cape Coral, was located on the ground of the rest area parking lot, next to his vehicle. The male was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Lee County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.

The rest area is back open.

The incident remains under investigation.
