A 7-year-old North Fort Myers girl was struck ad killed early Thursday afternoon on Gazelle Drive in North Fort Myers.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 12:26 p.m. when a 69-year-old North Fort Myers man was driving his pickup truck east on Gazelle Drive. The report says the girl was walking on a side road on the north side of Gazelle Drive when she entered the path of the truck. She sustained critical injuries and was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center and later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the pickup was uninjured and the crash remains under investigation, the FHP report says.
