Lee County to host new Touch-a-Truck event
A free inaugural Touch-a-Truck event will be held the first weekend of January at the Lee County Civic Center complex.
The event, organized by Lee County Parks & Recreation, will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon. on Saturday, Jan. 4,
Jessy Zukatis, who is the lead staff member for Touch-a-Truck, said they had some space in their calendar for county-hosted events, so they and are partnering with the North Fort Myers Civic Association.
“We invited a lot of Lee County vendors out to participate,” Zukatis said.
Trucks will include the Ranger Unit, 20/20 swamp buggy and fire engine, Golisano Children’s Hospital ambulance, Lee County EMS ambulance, local construction vehicles of all kinds and a Lee County Sheriff’s Office truck that is a ship.
“It is going to be a free event, and it is going to be hosted in the parking lot of the Civic Center,” she said.
The event also will include a sensory friendly time for the first hour where there will be no horn honking or lights. Attendees will have an opportunity to climb into the vehicles and check things out.
“The North Fort Myers Civic Association will have a dunk tank there,” Zukatis said.
The hope is this will turn into an annual event.
