Crowne Plaza Ft. Myers Gulf Coast’s inaugural ‘Give Thanks, Give Food’ initiative secures more than $3,000 and 250 pounds of food for Harry Chapin Food Bank

This holiday season, Crowne Plaza Ft. Myers Gulf Coast stepped up their giving for the season with the inaugural ‘Give Thanks, Give Food’ initiative. The community effort resulted in more than $3,000 in donations and over 250 pounds of non-perishable food collected for Harry Chapin Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief organization and only Feeding America partner serving Southwest Florida. Harry Chapin Food Bank will use the money and food collected to feed local families this holiday season.

According to Harry Chapin Food Bank, every $100 donated will provide up to 200 meals resulting in the Crowne Plaza Ft. Myers Gulf Coast Give Thanks, Give Food initiative yielding over 6,000 meals to families in need.

“We’re thrilled to be able to support Harry Chapin Food Bank and give back to our local community during the holiday season,” said Brian Holly, managing director of Crowne Plaza Ft. Myers Gulf Coast. “We are so grateful for the generosity of our community, team members and hotel guests coming together to support an incredible cause. These donations change lives, especially during the holidays.”

Crowne Plaza Ft. Myers Gulf Coast is still accepting non-perishable food donations in the lobby of the hotel until Dec. 31. Non-perishable food items include unopened, non-breakable containers, such as peanut butter, pasta, tuna, rice, beans, and canned meats, fruits, vegetables and soups.
