Cape Fire Department offering free falls prevention education and evaluation event

Monday, Nov. 18, is National Injury Prevention Day, and falls are one of the leading causes of injury, particularly among older adults. However, falling is not a normal part of aging. Many falls are preventable with simple adjustments and the right knowledge. Therefore, the Cape Coral Fire Department will be hosting a free Falls Prevention Education and Evaluation event Nov. 18, between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Public Works Building located at 815 Nicholas Parkway, E. One in four adults over 65 falls each year, and these falls can lead to serious consequences, such as fractures, hospitalizations and decreased quality of life.
